Philly Area Undergrads To Compete For $250,000 On 'Jeopardy! National College Championship'

Two Philadelphia area undergraduate students will be competing against 34 other collegiate contestants for a $250,000 grand prize in the upcoming game of "Jeopardy! National College Championship" airing Tuesday, Feb. 8 on ABC.

The ivy-league-filled roster includes Mehek Boparai, a senior majoring in English at the University of Pennsylvania, and Mitch Macek, a sophomore majoring in Mathematics at Villanova University, according to the show's website.

Bopari is from Hanford, California, while Macek is a Felton (York County), PA native.

The quarterfinal round consists of 12 games that will be broadcast over the course of six days.

Boparai will face University of Minnesota sophomore Emmey Harris and California Institute of Technology senior Toussaint Pegues. 

Meanwhile, Macek will go up against Brandeis University junior Joey Kornman and Northwestern University senior Yejun Kim.

Each quarterfinal game will have one winner. The top 12 winners will advance to the semifinals.

The three winners with the highest semifinal game totals will advance to the two-game finals airing on Feb. 22.

The championship will be hosted by Mayim Bialik.
